The narcissus blooms brilliantly in all of its beauty.
Beauty is what determines the importance of everything. Flowers bloom brilliantly, the impressive ones being those which bloom aesthetically. I like to consider myself one of those wonderfully blooming flowers. Perhaps a narcissus.
Anything that is not beautiful is not worth my time. Beautiful things should be cherished and preserved, and ugly things should be ignored or destroyed. Looking in the mirror, I know that I am of the former category. Even in battle, I manage to preserve my own beauty. I am brilliant in that I am both fierce and graceful in combat.
Glancing around, the very members of the eleventh squad are hideous. Scarred and bulky, the evidence of their years as fighters apparent on their every feature. Even my captain, of whom I greatly respect and look up to, is not the most visually appealing. He is captain because of his fearsome strength, not his appearance.
And then there is you. You do not even have a single piece of hair on your head, yet you are one of the most beautiful creatures I have ever seen. Your inner beauty outshines even your physical appearance, and that beauty is all I need to know to see you as you are.
You are the only other I notice, the only person other than myself that I would risk everything for. You are a firm believer in dying in battle, but I would prefer it if you were not so devout in your belief. You risk too much, and it hurts me when you are in pain. Blood splattered across your form makes me feel ill from anxiety, yet somehow it makes you even more beautiful in your element.
You are the only one who does not have to be physically flawless to capture my attention. The only other beauty I would die for.
